The Indian Army has recently installed new anti-infiltration grids along the Line of Control (LoC), as part of strengthening security in the border areas. The anti-infiltration grid consists of state-of-the-art equipment, thermal imagers and night vision cameras constantly scanning for any signs of movement.
Equipped with the latest in surveillance technology, the Indian Army’s anti-infiltration grid consists of advanced UAVs, motion sensors and spotter scopes. This multi-layered security system ensures that any breach is immediately detected and responded to.
The defence mechanism has also been successful in detecting Pakistani drones attempting to smuggle drugs and weapons into India.
As part of strengthening security, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled smart fences have been installed along the LoC recently. A software called Avekshan, designed and developed indigenously by the Corps of Signals of the Army, operates the fence, in coordination with the existing features of the cameras enabled at the fence.
The new smart software can detect and differentiate between human, animal, civil and uniform visibility. The post on Poonch, which India Today TV visited, is the closest post to Pakistan.
Pakistan’s Border Action Teams (BAT), which frequently carry out cross-border operations and raids across the LoC, are also present near this area.
In view of the recent infiltration and terror attempts, the Indian Army is focused on deploying advanced technology near the LoC to improve security along the border.
The latest quadcopter induction also enhanced the defence mechanism of the Indian Army. The indigenous Netra drones are also being used for road-opening operations in sensitive areas where terrorists had tried to carry out attacks earlier.
